Château De Ruth

This estate, whose name appears in documents as early as 1561, is one of the oldest in the Rhone Valley.
Throughout its rich history, the Château de Ruth has always brought a modern approach to winemaking. It will now benefit from the experience and expertise of Philippe Cambie, a highly-regarded oenologist in the southern Rhône area and in particular Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
This is a real new start for the Estate, which has over a hundred hectares of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, as well as 80-year old Carignan bush vines (free standing without wires) on the upper slopes.

Vincent Moreau’s first business was in quarrying, which has left him with a deep knowledge of geology. Moreover, he is passionate about cars.
He started studying oenology in 2000, and started growing vines. Settling in the southern Rhone Valley was quite a change after his previous globe-trotting lifestyle.
Vincent Moreau fell in love with the terroir of Cairanne and bought his first vineyard in 2004 : Domaine de galuval that he sold in 2016 to concentrate on his second vineyard that he bought in 2010.
At this time he fell under the charm of a beautiful property with views of the spectacular Dentelles de Montmirail and Provence’s tallest mountain, le Mont Ventoux. Most of all, he discovered that it is on an exceptional terroir of red clay and river stones. Such terroir evokes the southern Rhone's best appellations. This decided the matter for him and he bought the Chateau de Ruth from Christian Meffre.
His objective is to create not only an outstanding vineyard that brings together tradition and modernity, but also a wine tourism centre which showcases the rich heritage of this remarkable place at Sainte-Cécile-les-Vignes.
